Parenting Feels Chaotic. You Need a Weaver, Not a To Do List.

Between screens, schedules, and stress, when was the last time you felt truly present with your child?

Logic doesn’t soothe a dysregulated nervous system. Positive thinking can’t tidy a chaotic morning. And drilling skills rarely sparks a love of reading.

You don't need more hacks.

You need a weaver, someone who can guide you to tie these loose threads together.

Hi, I'm Mariah. Around here, the body knows the story before the words do. I help scattered, stretched-thin parents release the guilt and rebuild reading time as a daily rhythm of connection: art, breath, and movement woven into story, so presence becomes something your family lives, not something you have to perform.

How We Weave Your Haven

True reading joy happens when the body and mind are at ease.

At Heartwood & Ember, we don’t separate learning from living, we weave together:

Grounded Presence

The Anchor

Before you open the book, we settle the body. We use gentle breathwork, mindful pauses, and somatic movements to move from survival mode to connection.

When you're grounded, you and your child feel safe. This is the foundation of our rhythms.

Survival mode isn't who you are. It's a state you can leave.

Rhythmic Connection

The Bond

Reading isn't just decoding words, it's woven attention. We weave in movement, curiosity, play, and imagination to create a rhythm that works for both of you to look forward to.

We teach you how to bring a love of reading into your home beyond the books themselves. Whether you have toddlers to preteens, these simple practices turn bedtime battles into bonding time and build a lasting love for story.

Reading isn't a skill to drill. It's a relationship to tend.

Intentional Ease

The Home

Peace doesn't come from control, it comes from intention.

We design small sustainable rituals and spaces that remove friction from your day.

Whether it's a cozy corner for story or a simple check in, we make ease accessible in the midst of chaos.

Ease isn't found. It's designed.

The Result:

Your family, where every member is a Rhythm Keeper,

returning to calm, story, and presence again and again.

A rhythm isn't a routine you keep.

It's a relationship you keep returning to.

Parenting Is The Practice of Returning

Returning to calm when the moment feels overwhelming.

Returning to story when frustration begins to rise.

Returning to rhythm when the day feels off track.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about coming back. Again and again.

What Changes When You Return to Rhythm?

You don’t need a complete overhaul. You just need to shift the pattern.

You haven't fallen off. You're between returns.

Imagine reading not as a task, but as a tether.

When you stop forcing and start flowing, something quiet happens:

  • Books stop gathering dust and start inviting connection.

  • Reacting gives way to responding from a grounded place.

  • Survival mode fades and presence takes its seat.

This is where reading comes home.

For Rhythm Keepers who choose presence over perfection.

You don't have to get it right. You just have to show up.

Meet Mariah

Mom. Educational Specialist.

I created Heartwood & Ember because I believe every child loves reading, they just haven't found their favorite book, yet.

And every parent wants peace during story time, they just haven’t found their rhythm yet.

My kids read voluntarily. We have to ask them to put their books down to eat dinner. I didn’t get there by drilling skills. I got there by regulating my own nervous system and creating space for connection.

As an Educational Specialist, I see behavior as data, not defiance. Through my training in intentional art making and somatic practices, I know that regulation happens in the body.

I blend these worlds to help you remember the simple truths: that peace comes from presence and connection comes from rhythm.

I am a weaver of rhythms and a keeper of simple practices, helping you navigate modern chaos with ease.

Welcome to Heartwood & Ember. Where patterns become rhythm.
